Experts have warned that Kitum Cave in Mount Elgon National Park, Kenya, could trigger the next pandemic. The cave harbors deadly viruses known to mankind like Ebola and Marburg. Experts have raised a concern that it might be the home to the potential pandemic of the Marburg virus. The WHO has issued a statement in which the Marburg virus was stated as a ‘pandemic prone’. This has raised concerns among health organizations as the Marburg virus is known for causing severe hemorrhagic fever with a mortality rate of up to 88%.
